About Heroes & open eyes
Eric Del Castillo is developing his world of collages (more than 15 years), passing through other forms, from performance, painting, installation and objetcs. But his constancy takes roots in appropiation of images from different sources at the end makes a unique personal image. As an visual, so at litteral.
Hyperheroes and Others it´s a digital collage serie and it refers to the world of the characters from cartoons (from sixties - Astro Boy), through japanimation till beings that completely belongs to digital media (Megaman, Chu Chu, Super Channel 5).
Eric combines them with parts from the real world photos, and pieces from the work of another artists (Yves Kline)... And everything blend digitaly inside of this magical machine, which artist use in Barroque way, or more Rococco. And like relation between this two periods, today after Postmodernism goes Hypereclecticism (by author), like summa maxima of explotation and exploration of visual world that allready exist, but now is combinating in millions of new fractals. New Camp, decorativity without limits, like it propose Rave culture. Culture which is tribal and individual at the same time, where audio explote in beats that are just electronic reproduction of our heart beating. Integral part of Rave culture is visualization of electronic beat.
It´s hypnotic, pop, digital and dare. all this influences we can find in Eric´s work, Hypereclecticism, freedom to use and combine all known creating one fresh and surprising image. Not ironic like in eighty´s, now it just leaves us with open eyes.
Living in pop culture, consumer consuming it and artist is traveling on its borders, exploring its heroes and reasons. And he enjoying it.
